I stumbled across a quirky gift web site that matches my youngest sister’s personality: PerpetualKid.com. This Virginia-based etailer offers a wide selection of gifts for grown-ups with an active inner child. My sister lives out of state, and she will celebrate her 27th birthday this week. So I sent her some office toys that I hope are the envy of her tech support co-workers.

First, there are the Cubes: two-inch-high, cube-headed, cubicle-dwelling posable action figures. But these aren’t your ordinary desktop distraction: it’s a four-figure set of The Cubes Corporate Zombies. The Cube Zombies come armed with laptops, cell phones and coffee cups — all ready for a hostile takeover of the office’s brains. And if she’s working late, look out — these figures glow in the dark. Given her love of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I think she’ll like her new zombie friends.

Next, I gave her a set of Old School Post-It Notes. The sticky pads are multi-colored and college-ruled. The tray set of six pads feature the sardonic subjects of Huh, Duh, Argh, Oy, Ha and Moo.

Finally, every professional needs an emergency breath mint for that important meeting. Why not some Family Guy-themed Stewie’s Death Defying Peppermints? My sister loves the show’s irreverent humor.

I hope she enjoys her offbeat birthday presents.
