What Makes a Great Gift #8: It’s Thoughtful
The hardest part about choosing gifts: it’s not about you, it’s about them. I know, that sounds simple. But researchers have found “target familiarity” clouds our judgment when picking presents. If your tastes do not match your partners, chances are, your gift may not please. For gifts to succeed, they must be thoughtful.
Great gifts demonstrate you are attentive to the giftee’s tastes and wishes. You acted on the hints, dropped knowingly or inadvertently, from months before. You brainstormed, you searched online, you shopped the stores. You contemplated then chose.
In gift giving, it truly is the thought that counts.
