ShopperTrak thinks not. The shopping traffic research firm predicted months ago that Black Friday (Nov. 23, 2007) will top the year as the busiest shopping day. However, the last Saturday before Christmas often draws the year’s highest shopping traffic — especially when Christmas lands near midweek, as it does for 2007. Note below that the 10 final Saturdays before Christmas led as the busiest shopping day of the year since 1993.

With the big sales, hectic pace and swarming crowds, I call this day Scramble Saturday. ShopperTrak prefers the more pleasant Super Saturday. You may call it Dec. 22, 2007, if you wish.
